4 Ways To Kickstart A Brand New Career

One of the most exciting and scary things that you can do is quit your job. Having to walk into the bosses office and hand in your notice is daunting, especially if you don’t want to to discuss the reasons for leaving! You may hate your job and not be the biggest fan of your boss, but sometimes it’s about the career you want versus the career you have. Taking the time to quit your job is a good thing, as it means you’re going after what you truly want and not stay in a job you don’t like.

Don’t worry if you’re feeling overwhelmed by those next steps you must take, though. It’s a significant change you’re about to embark on, and you are brave enough to go for it! It’s exciting. Whether you want to start climbing the ladder in a new tech firm, or you want to learn about apprenticing with ABC Heart of America, you have a world of choices in front of you. Right now, your only concern is going to be kickstarting a brand new career. Let’s take a look at four ways you can get started.

  1. The first thing to do is take a breath. Quitting is the hardest bit; it’s much easier to figure your next steps out. It starts with knowing what you want to do with your life and if you’ve quit your job, it’s likely that you’re already halfway there and knows what you want to do with your time now.
  2. Consider the routes you want to take into your next career. Some jobs will allow you to apprentice or be an intern, where there are careers that expect you to have specific qualifications before you can go for it. Those are the careers that you need to look out for because they will require you to reconnect with your academic brain and go back to school.
  3. Starting a business is an excellent option if you are now out of work and you want to kickstart a new career. Figure out a niche of your own – something you could be good at – and offer it as a service. You could choose to freelance at first, or you could decide to start a business and hire other people with an office space and everything. Your options are pretty endless here, and now that you don’t have your day job, you’ve got all the time in the world to work on your business idea.
  4. If you have quit your job with a decent amount of money in the bank, you could consider buying into an existing business and reinvigorating it! Taking over an existing business requires you to have knowledge of the industry and a will to take a fledgeling business and turn it around. Take your time to choose, here, as you want to invest in the right company for you!

Kickstarting your new career takes a lot of grit. Given that you quit your job, it’s clear that you already have enough of that!
