Seeing the count go up and knowing there’s one more person who’s going to watch your content when it comes out is a rush, so it stands to reason that when you’re building your profile on TikTok, you should want to amass as many followers as possible. Happily, getting more followers is also a great way to become more famous and well-known on TikTok. Here’s how you can organically grow your TikTok follower count.
Post often and at the right times
One of the best ways to get yourself free followers on TikTok is to post at the right times of day. These times will vary depending on where you are, but they tend to be when most users are logging in and checking their feeds, so they’re more likely to spot content you’re uploading. TikTok as an app is all about seizing the moment. If you don’t manage to grab a trend before it departs – which can happen incredibly quickly – then you may as well not bother making a video themed around it at all. You should also avoid the trends that are gathering traction as mean-spirited or dangerous, because they won’t get you new followers in the long-term; they just might result in you being banned or suspended, so it’s not worth it. However, if you see a trend that’s just starting and that has amazing growth potential, you need to get in on the ground floor right away.
Post educational content
Posting educational TikTok videos is a great way to disseminate your content. People will share your videos if they think there’s something useful in them that other people should know. Think about your skill set. Is there something you could teach others to do? Is there a particularly difficult skill that you possess that you think others should possess? TikTok has built-in features that make collaborations with other users easy. If you see another user’s video and you think you can add a unique outlook or a creative followup, then use Duets or Stitches. You’ve probably seen both of these in action; Duets allow you to play your video side-by-side with another user’s, while Stitches let you edit in segments to create a more free-flowing narrative. Make sure you’re using the right format for the video; in the wrong context, Stitches and Duets can look wrong and actually make the content worse, which isn’t going to get you new followers!
Leverage other social media platforms
Have you ever seen a TikTok montage on Facebook or Instagram, or seen someone link to a TikTok video on Twitter? There’s a good reason for that; posting your TikTok video on other platforms lets users who might not be familiar with TikTok discover your work. The unique differences between TikTok and other platforms mean you’ll never be repeating yourself when you post.
