July 4th is one of my favorite times to pause. I am perhaps one of the most patriotic people you could meet. I love this country. I am proud every day to be an American and proud of all that we have accomplished. I am proud of the men and women who serve us in so many capacities – from our military to teachers to police.
We have a lot before us and there are always things each and every one of us can do better to serve our world more effectively, but there is nowhere else I want to come home to after a long journey… no country I would rather raise my children in… no country I would rather serve through volunteer efforts.
As you watch the fireworks and hear our anthem, stand proud. Pause and consider how very blessed we are and what an opportunity we have to be even better tomorrow!
